Fall 2011 Mac Lineup

So today I caught a glimpse of the new fall 2011 Mac lineup from Apple. Now I'm not on either particular side of the Windows vs. Macintosh debate, but I have to say that I'm honestly pretty disappointed with the move that Apple's made. Apple enthusiasts will notice that the original MacBook is now missing. The MacBook Air now sports Thunderbolt ports while the MacBook Pro remains pretty much the same. The Mac mini has lost the integral superdrive (a multipurpose, CD-RW and DVD-RW drive), while also adding faster CPU, GPU, and options for a Solid State Drive. The Mac mini, once the equivalent of the original MacBook (sans keyboard and display), is now more similar to the MacBook Air.
Personally, I feel that these changes are similar to the changes made in last year's iPod series, too "citizen joe" for my tastes. External superdrives for both the MacBook Air and Mac mini are significant additions to your checkout total (to the tune of $79.00US), while both models obviously traded that space for more power, trading an important feature for the perpetuation of a design that's generally smaller than it needs to be. Similarly, the miniscule iPod Nano is far smaller than most individuals would ever need. I'm also personally an opponent of such large-capacity iPod Classic models, or the "phoneless" iPhone (iPod Touch), but those were less major an overhaul than the complete revamp of the iPod Nano.
All-in-all, I think these changes have personally deterred me from a future purchase--I mourn the loss of the MacBook, while the MacBook Pro remains out of my budget--but Apple's Macintosh computers remain some of the best out there, off-the-shelf or custom-ordered.

First

I'm doing this from my phone, so pardon the lack of fancy, basically, I'm starting this blog to share my opinions of things, and maybe a bit of artwork. I'm a novice html coder and aspiring graphic designer. Hopefully, that means that this blog will eventually look somewhat decent. A tout  l'heure!
